Barreiro School of Technology/ESTBarreiro/IPS is a public higher education institutionand forms part of the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal, Portugal. The School is located at a twenty minutes boat travel to Lisbon, the city capital of Portugal. It is a privileged location close to many tourist attractions and 15 minutes away from the Lisbon Airport. Also, it is located in the Lisbon Metropolitan area, where many firms, both national and multinational develop their activity in the region in different areas such as paper, aeronautics, automobile, tourism, mechanical engineering, logistics and ports, which holds a highly important geostrategic as a gateway to Europe. Furthermore, it is also close to Setubal, which, with its varied landscape composed of sea and mountains, including a large protected area, is a tourist destination for Portuguese and foreigners.

At the present day, Barreiro School of Technology/ESTBarreiro/IPS provides training in the fields of Engineering and Technologies namely professional higher technical programmes(short cycles named CTeSP that assign a professional superior technician diploma), undergraduate, postgraduate and other training activities.

Barreiro School of Technology was created in 1999 and moved to new facilities in 2007. In this way, the training offer was extended and improved, allowing students to enjoy quality teaching in conditions of excellence. The new facilities were designed and aligned with the training provided, especially regarding the laboratories, since they were designed for class development and research in the areas of knowledge of Barreiro School of Technology. In addition, these facilities received the International Architecture Award in 2009, awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, and were also acknowledged by the magazine Única of the weekly periodic Expressoas one of the cult buildings of the decade in 2009.

Barreiro School of Technology has established itself as a Higher School of Education with great quality standards, whose training programmesare adequate and continuously adjusted and with a highly qualified teaching staff, as acknowledged by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) in the accreditation of the curricula submitted to evaluation.
